You can see the maps on two sites, one free and the other, a subscription site: the free one is on Ask Ireland at: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml the subscription site is OriginsNetwork: http://www.originsnetwork.com/ I like the Origins Network site better because I find it easier to navigate. Once you know the map number (found on the GV under the townland name), you can also get beautiful maps for a price at PastHomes: http://www.pasthomes.com/showfullsheets.php?cat=2&pid=12 > I then have Alice Coogan as occupier and Owen Coogan as the Lessor. > Also, Mary Coogan as occupier and Owen Coogan as the lessor. > My question is...Would Owen Coogan have leased the land and then subleased small portions to members of his families? > They are all listed as Street number 14 but they have different Sequence numbers and map references are different. You beat me to it Pat. I use both but I think only the askaboutireland site has the corresponding Reference Numbers drawn on the map. I haven't seen that feature on the Origins site. I also use the Ordnance Survey Island site - they have modern satellite views and historic maps: http://www.osi.ie/ Click on "Try our new interactive map!" - you can zoom in and change which map you're looking at: http://ims0.osiemaps.ie/website/publicviewer/main.aspx#V1,600000,750000,0 Regards, Mike Carragher Flushing, NY The Carragher World Family Tree http://carragherfamily.org [email protected] A Carragher-Carraher-Caraher One-Name Study [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Pat Connors [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, April 18, 2010 12:03 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [IRL-MONAGHAN] Griffins Valuation Maps You can see the maps on two sites, one free and the other, a subscription site: the free one is on Ask Ireland at: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml the subscription site is OriginsNetwork: http://www.originsnetwork.com/ I like the Origins Network site better because I find it easier to navigate.
