    3. Greetings Ciaran Potter: I received your request for a copy of the obituary of my ancestor, James McAviney, that appeared in the Clones Advocate in November 1900. The text is 2 pages and the list of attendees is 2 more pages with 130 names. If you will email to me your mailing address, I will "snailmail" a copy back to you. I think it best to handle it in this manner. In your recent email to me, you asked: "Let me know what names and timelines are of interest to you". I have much material, but will reduce it for now to the following: My grandparents were Catherine Gunn and Owen McAviney living in the Clonkeen area, Clones. As a widow, she emigrated to New Jersey, USA, with my 13 year-old grandfather, Philip McAviney, in 1851. He returned to Clones in 1901, a year after his cousin, James McAviney died there. His clipping from that funeral in Sacred Heart Church, is the clipping I will soon air mail to you. The deceased James McAviney ran the "Butter and Meat yard" at the bottom of Fermanagh Street adjacent to the later named Creighton Hotel. May I ask what your genealogy connection is with Clones and County Monaghan? I have relatives in Monaghan and have had contact with Theo McMahon and others there over the past dozen years. I appreciate your offer to assist me and look forward to further contact. Thank you very much. Phil McDonnell, [email protected] My USA address is 30 Adam Way, Atherton, CA 94027
