Family immigrated to North America in about 1868 - 1869. Port of entry not found. John Sloy and appropriate family found in 1870 census of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Three or four more children born in Pennsylvania - Eleanor, Catharine, b. 27 Oct 1872, Nelly, Mary Josephine, b. 5 February 1876 Mary Josephine is my grandmother. John, Sr. is listed as a mechanic in Pittsburgh, PA city directories in the early 1870s. The family moved to Jefferson County, Arkansas in 1876 and is found in the census of Bogy Township, Jefferson County in the 1880 census. John, Sr. died about 1881. Grave not found.     3. It may be worth getting a birth certificate off Scotland's people for James or John listed below, this would tell you the mother's maiden name. I know it looks like her name her is Bridget, but it could quite easily have been Elisabeth Bridget or visa versa. Good find Janet !
