Hi Geraldine, The new graveyard is almost (if not completely) a Catholic graveyard, but unlike most graveyards in the county it is under the care of Monaghan County Council rather than the local church. The old part of the graveyard is mixed (Catholic/Protestant), and it was closed in 1910. I think the new graveyard dates from about this time. A local heritage group (volunteers) erected the maps and signage recently, and deserve great credit for their work.
