Tom Cassidy ----- Original Message ----- From: PRONI To: 'Tom Cassidy' Sent: Tuesday, June 22, 2010 6:09 AM Subject: RE: Purchasing Microfilm Copy A&G 13113 Dear Mr Cassidy, Thank you for your request for information received on the 15th June 2010. We can confirm that PRONI holds records as detailed below for Tedavnet, Co. Monaghan: R.C. Tydavnet (Clogher diocese) Baptisms, 1835-81; marriages, 1825-65 and 1876-81. MIC1D/2, 16-17 PRONI cannot provide copies of any kind without written permission from the individual church. When you are writing to the priest you should state whether you require a copy of an entire microfilm reel or volume, or simply few pages from a microfilm or a volume. Reel MIC1D/16-17 contains the records of more than one parish. PRONI cannot copy this as it involves considerable work in identifying the records for which permission has been granted and there is the potential for us to get it wrong (i.e. we could accidentally provide copies of records for which permission has not been granted). However, should you get written permission from each individual church included on the microfilm then it would be possible to get a copies. Please see attachment for further churches included on reel MIC1D/16-17. You can get a copy of the microfilm MIC1D/2 again, if you get permission from the individual church, as this only contains records from the Tydavnet Roman Catholic parish. The records it contains are as follows: Baptismal register - parish of Tedavnet - 1835 - 1862 Baptismal register - parish of Tedavnet - 1863 - 1871 Marriage register - parish of Tedavnet - 1835 - 1862 We can also search the church records on your behalf, we can: a.. either search for it on payment of a fee and supply you with the information (if found) b.. or enable you to search for the information in other ways. Full details of your search options are attached (AP2). Unfortunately more information is needed for us to carry out a search quickly and thus to reduce our fee. Please send as many of the following details as possible if you would like to request a search and any successful returns would be transcribed (originals if permission is received from parish) a.. the full name of the person* b.. What part of Northern Ireland did the family come from* c.. religious denomination* d.. the approximate date of the event* e.. the name of the parent(s) See attached (AP2) for a description of our search service and details of other ways of finding the information you seek if you do not wish to use it. If you prefer to follow another way of finding the information we shall be happy to advise you or a person acting for you when you visit PRONI. If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications. I've not followed this thread to see if the films orderable into any FHC can be had for Tedavnet. If it will help to know what's available to order for that RC church, use this link to FHC films and select KEYWORD SEARCH, entering Tedavnet. If you use the Tydavnet spelling, it will not recognize it and nothing will be returned. The FHC search does not use alternate spellings, you must trial and error search 'til the spelling they used is found. http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp I entered Tedavnet and got 10 title hits with that word in it. Not all were filmed, you must clik the title, then find a hyperlink in the upper right corner of the film page saying "View Film Notes" or read a note saying the title has not been filmed. View Film Notes will give the film number to order. I don't see Baptismal registers, but there are other titles that may be of interest. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA ----------------------------------
