Hello Monaghan List: I am related to SMITH of Smithborough but don't know how to best go about finding their trail. I am going over in May and would like to have some suggestions as to where to search. Family lore has it that: John SMITH married Ann CARROLL. They had nine children, John was a miller. ( One of the sons married Ann MACPHILLIPS , whose mother was a MCCABE.) My GG Grandmother was one of the daughters - Mary Ann SMITH who came over at age 10 (about 1850 to1860,- my estimate) her mother having passed on when Mary Ann was only 6 months old. Mary Ann lived with a brother in the Cincinnati area , was educated at Notre Dame in Cincinnati, and at age 18 married John GRAHAM who had come over about 1865. One of their 10 children was my grandmother Mary Florence GRAHAM. Maybe some of these names will ring with the many Monaghan Clans out there? If so, please drop me a line ~ or send me some clues for researching Smithborough. Many Many thanks to all. Tom McGurn
