Kelly's Cross - I find no mention of this as a Townland or Parish, although it may be a locally known name for a 'crossroads'. Emyvale - there are two listings for this placename: 1. Emyvale, a townland [also known as Scarnageeragh] in the Parish of Donagh, Barony of Trough, Co. Monaghan. It is 119 acres, 2 roods and 4 perches in size. 2. Emyvale, a Town in the Parish of Donagh, Barony of Trough, Co. Monaghan. Tedavnet is a very small townland consisting of only 46 acres, 3 roods and 11 perches. There is a Barony spelled Trough in Co. Monaghan, and it adjoins the Barony of Monaghan. I would expect Tednavnet to be somewhere near the border of the Parishes of Tedavnet and Monaghan. Wish I had a Parish map to be sure. County Monaghan has the following old church records listed for Tedavnet Parish: Church of Ireland: Tydavnet [1832] Mullaghfad [1836 Roman Catholic: Tydavnet [1825] Presbyterian: Scotstown [1855] Hope this is of some help. County Monaghan. It is my understanding that he left Ireland as an adult with a family some time before 1845. He was married to Ellen CONNOLLY and they were the parents of Patrick, Bridget, Rose and James all born in Tydavnet(there may be others). Patrick was born around 1814 and died in Prince Edward Island (Lot 65, Emyvale), on July 26,1859 at the age of 45. Patrick CLARKIN married Catherine COADY of PEI some time around 1845. Patrick and Catherine had six children one of whom was a daughter Mary (whose name on the church record is spelled CLERKIN) married "Irish" Hugh CAMPBELL at St Joseph's in Kelly's Cross in PEI in 1874. Mary CLERKIN and Hugh CAMPBELL are my great grandparents. I would like info on Michael and Patrick CLARKIN and Ellen CONNOLLY. All I have on Ellen CONNOLLY is that she married Michael CLARKIN in the early 1800's and very likely in Tydavnet. It would also be helpful someone could verify a piece of "history". I have been told that Kelly's Cross and Emyvale in PEI were named for the home towns of the people who came to PEI from County Monaghan. The story also says that the parish priest in Kelly's Cross at St Joseph's Church help arrange and pay for the passage of parishioners to leave Ireland for new homes in PEI. Is there an Emyvale and a Kelly's Cross in County Monaghan and if so can you give me a clue as to where they are? Any help you can provide related to this request will be very well received and if there is any information I might provide from New Hampshire, USA I am more than willing to do so.
