I am researching the FAULKNER family for a friend of mine and need some assistance. I don't know the names of the parents, but I do know there were 8 sons and 1 dau in this family - and the only ones I have information on are: Thomas Faulkner b. 15 May 1826, Mt. Carmel, County Monaghan George Faulkner ........ Eliza Faulkner b. 16 Feb 1842, County Monaghan. She mar. James HEGAN who was b. 4 Jun 1848, Tattybrack, County Monaghan (and they probably married in the county before emigrating). And the youngest child, Charles Faulkner, b. 5 Dec 1844, Castle Blaney, County Monaghan. I have a marriage notice from the Sacramento, California newspaper which says, " In Dublin, Ireland, March 10th (1864), George Faulkner of Oroville (California), (married) to Catherine Sarah JOHNSTON of Millmore House, County Monaghan, Ireland." Since "my" Faulkners were, indeed, in Oroville, Butte Co., CA during this time, I'm fairly confident this is "my" George. I'm looking for the names of the parents, the names of the other children, dates of emigration (before 1864), and any other information available. I'm particularly curious why George came back to Ireland to marry - (I don't imagine the parents came as the father was "a well-to-do" farmer in the county - so George probably stayed with them on this visit.)
