Hi David, Thank you for your help and suggestions. The site you gave me is really very useful, because Tom is totally Irish and as yet does not know one single townland of any of his ancestors. Will that be a mammoth task? I am 5/8 Irish and only know the one now, Mullan. Would marriages be entered by the Priest? He would be an educated man and unlikely to make spelling mistakes. Could it have been a helper who made the entry, in which case he may have spelt it phonetically? Oh, for crystal ball! No, Mullin and Coma?nne were not the names of the witnesses. They were very clearly written as Franciscio McKENNA and Hellena CAMPBELL. I am willing to grasp at the straw that they were the townlands. It is the closest I have ever been to finding another clue. What do you all think? Am I going off the track? I need all the help and suggestions I can get. Thank you for your help. Therese.
