Hi Listers, This is my first query . My gggrandparents Hugh MCPHILLIPS b.c.1789 and his wife Catherine MURPHY b.c.1800 moved with their family Mary, Ann, Catherine, Margaret, Elizabeth, Patrick, Susan, Bridget and Bernard to New Lanark Scotland 1847/8. All Scottish records show their place of birth as Ireland no County. New Lanark Conservation Trust were unable to help with exactly where in Ireland they may have come from. New Lanark was a cotton mill village and it was though the family would have come from a like type place in Ireland - ? Monaghan or Cavan. The older girls were all Carders and Spinners. I understand that the name MCPHILLIPS was quite well known in CLONES a number of years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hugh's father was Patrick MCPHILLIPS Catherine Murphy's parents were - Bernard MURPHY and Agnes MCPHILLIPS. Anita B.C.
