I just finished looking at the passenger lists from Derry to North America, for 1847--1871. The book states that great majority of the passengers were from County Derry, County Donegal and County Tyrone. County Femanagh contributed 12% and all the rest, including Monaghan, contributed only 2% of the passengers... So my question is " where did the Monaghan emigrants go to catch the ship to North America ??? My family left in two groups, between 1854 and 1860 and they didn't go through Derry... Any ideas ??? Thanks Dick Kiernan
If you find out, can you please let me know. My McKENNA family went too America during that period and settled in Dakota. Therese , in warm and humid Queensland.
