Dear Listers, We have traced my wife's family back to George LONGMORE and Betty GIBSON who lived in Monaghan c.1780. They had 9 children, George, Joseph, David & William. The eldest, George died in Monaghan in 1827. At some unknown date he married Jane MURDOCK, the daughter of John MURDOCK & ? CARLISLE. George & Jane had the following children, Mary b.1811, Robert b.1813, Joseph b.1815, John b.1819 and Francis b.1826. After the death of George the family migrated to Australia and the youngest, Francis, eventually became a Member of Parliament in Victoria.
