    3. Hello Listers, I'm looking for "Hammell", circa 1800 - 1835, specifically, but prior to that would be interesting also. My ancester Henry Hammell and wife Isabella Shaw sailed to Canada in 1835. Henry died on board, Isabella remarried a fellow passenger, Roderick Graham whom she met on the passage over. Henry & Isabella's son, George (b. 1832 in Ireland, d. 1922 in Canada) was my great grandfather and we have traced forward from George to present. Family legend suggests County Cavan however haven't found much there yet. Thought I might look around some other counties due to the apparent easy movement of families back then. Suspect strongly, that the folks were protestant, from family history, primarily english firstnames through family, ie, Arthur, Edward, John, Robert, George, etc. They were farmers in Canada, I assume the same in Ireland. A bit of a surprise, as my side of the family don't seem to me to have a strong "farming aptitude". Perhaps that's just my narrow perspective. Any traces would be appreciated... even a confirmation they weren't there is good. Mike Hammell
