Hi, List, I'm going to Ireland in three weeks and still don't know from which parish & townland my Hunters originated. I hate to beg, but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if anyone has access to the Tithe Applotments for Co. Monaghan, could you look up the Hunter surname? Specifically, I'm looking for Joseph Hunter who emigrated with his wife Jane (Aikins?) about 1830 with about 14 children. That's a lot of needles in the haystack....where were they all hiding??? Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thanks in advance. Joan Hunter Essex, Ontario, Canada
Joan, I've got Hunter n my list and it's not in any of the three civil parishes I checked this week - I'm only posting them once I have put the info I find into my computer, printed it out and check when I go back again to make sure I've made no mistakes. I won't be checking the actual Tithes themselves - just the indices. Where are you coming to in Ireland - Monaghan or other places, will you be in Dublin at all? I'll go through the other parishes just for Hunter ahead of what I am at on Tuesday or Wednesday next week, we have a Bank Holiday here this weekend so everywhere is closed on Monday - plus, do you have any info on what parish registers are available, are we talking of Protestants or Catholics with your Hunters and then if you're going to be in Monaghan or in Northern Ireland or Dublin depends on what I can tell you about which parish records are available here that are not outside Ireland......... or estate records and if I tell you everything there is you'll have your head buried in Archives for your whole holiday!! You will only find his name in the Tithes if it's there - not the children or any information on them Jane ----- Original Message ----- From: "JOAN HUNTER/SIMON REEVE" <jhunter@MNSi.net> To: <IRL-MONAGHAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2001 3:00 AM Subject: Hunter - Monaghan GETTING DESPERATE!!! > Hi, List, > I'm going to Ireland in three weeks and still don't know from which parish & townland my Hunters originated.
