I came to a dead end on reseraching my grandmother's family - Loughlins who were from Co Monaghan. So I searched the current Irish telephone directory on the Internet and found that there were very few Loughlins in Monaghan, I wrote to them and then followed up by phone calls. One of the phone calls was successful as the family I called remembered the Loughlin family although not related and provided me with more definite information/ details of where they lived etc for further research.
