    1. [IRL-MONAGHAN] COYLE family of Aughnamullen parish, Roo

    3. If there is anyone reading this post who lives in or around Aughnamullen, Roo, just south of Ballybay, I am requesting your kind help. My grandmother, Mary COYLE, left Roo in Oct or late Sept 1897 bound for Hope, Rhode Island, where she lodged with the John KEENAN and his wife, Anne (COYLE) KEENAN, Mary's aunt; both John and Anne were from the area around Roo. Mary COYLE left a mother, a sister, and three brothers behind in Roo; they were still there in the 1901 and 1911 census, but after that I do not know what happened to them. If there is a cemetery in the Roo area, I am sure that some if not all are buried there along with Mary's father, Joseph Coyle, who died in early 1897. I am asking someone to be kind enough to tell me what is on their headstones. Here are the names and approximate dates of the family, all Catholic: Joseph COYLE (1833 - 1897) -- father Catherine (GILLEN) COYLE (1851 - 1918) -- mother Joseph COYLE (1879 - 1914) -- son Owen COYLE (1881 - 1951) -- son Patrick COYLE (1886 - 1952) -- son Margaret COYLE (1887 - 1942) -- daughter; she may have married in 1914, but the records available on line make it impossible to be sure. My grandmother, Mary COYLE, was born in 1878, and Joseph COYLE and Catherine GELLIN were married in 1877; the marriage was registered in Castleblaney. John Grimes

    3. Hi John, I have family that was very close to Roo - McQuillan from Sragh (spelled "Sra" on Google Maps). They are buried in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery (Lough Eigish, Monaghan, Ireland). See the listing I created on FindAGrave: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2304821 The parish website: http://www.aughnamulleneast.com/. I'm not as familiar if they went the other direction towards Ballybay. I could see them also going to St Mary's in Castleblayney too.
