Thank you for your reply Jean. I don't know much about the Hanrattys and don't know of any who went to Scotland. I have tracked mine to Carrickmacross in Monaghan and for a time in Barronstown and Haggardstown in Louth. I only know this because of the birth entries I have. They to'd and fro'd several times between Ireland and North Shields - and I know this because of birth entries. I am unable to find a marriage for Alice Hanratty and Edward Fagan (c1860) or birth entries for their first two children born in Ireland before Civil Registration. I'll just keep looking. Now off to a forum at our local history centre on researching your Irish ancestors. Here's hoping. Best wishes from Johanna -----Original Message----- From: irl-monaghan-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:irl-monaghan-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of jean old Sent: Thursday, 28 June 2012 10:11 AM To: irl-monaghan@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [IRL-MONAGHAN] McCann Family and Hanratty McShane Hello I to have McCann family and Hanratty My ggg grand mother was maryann McCann she married John McShane The Hanrattty on are on my Rafferty side the McCann, are on both sides of my family a lot of my McCann,s lived in Scotland Kind regards Jean > From: hugh.mccann@selexgalileo.com > To: irl-monaghan@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2012 06:13:24 +0000 > Subject: Re: [IRL-MONAGHAN] McCann Family > > Morning, > I to have been at this 'discovery' family lines for some 31 years and very much in the process of writing a family history book for future generations.
