My McArdle family originated in Annagleve, Castleblayney, co. Monaghan a cluster of them appear in the Griffiths Valuation. Apparently many of them were related but living memory cannot make the connection. My reserch shows James McArdle and Fanny (Luke) as my great great grandparents who were married about the early 1830s. I know of 5 of their children but am of the opinion there were more of the family who lived locally. I have been told that the Muckno records are only available from 1969. Any ideas or clues would be welcome. thanks to everyone in advance Roisin
Hi Roisin, The RC church in Castleblayney is St Mary's and the parish marriage records are available on microfilm which you can see at a LDS Family Search Center. The starting date is 1835. (I found a marriage record for my family from 1855. Going back to look again is on my to-do list.) LDS microfilm "979707 Items 4 - 6": Baptisms, 1835-1862; marriages, 1835-1862; baptisms, 1862-1869; marriages, 1862-1868; baptisms, 1868-1881. McArdle is a popular name so it may take extra luck to identify the right ones. I manage the Monaghan links page at IGP: http://www.igp-web.com/monaghan/index.html The Monaghan Library has a good list of info: http://www.monaghan.ie/contentv3/services/library/historygenealogy/ Download their pdf "Tracing Your Ancestors" guide. Parts of my family were nearby in Drumcrew and Clonavogy.
