    3. Hello Roisin. I read with interest your post regarding Thomas Hamill. You may remember that I am researching Hanratty/Fagan/Fegan families and The name Hamill has appeared several times as sponsors in the Fagan parish records for North Shields wbere they emigrated in the 1870s. Thomas Hammil was sponsor for my g/mother's nephew Arthur Turnbull - son of Mary Fagan and Thomas Turnbull in 1889. Other Hammil's mentioned in the North Shields parish records were Peter Hammil/Hammel, Thomas, Francis and John. I am assuming that there was some family connection between these families. I look forward to your comments. The Northern Standard July 10th 1880, gives the account of the case being referred to the next assizes which may have been soon afterwards... I am searching for the follow up and/or end of the case and would be grateful for any suggestions... apparently Hamill was acquitted. .
