My wifes ggrandmother left Ohio on a wagon thain for California not knowing she was pregnant at the time. The journey was long and difficult but she tended to the families needs. Two days after crossing the Mississippi River the baby would wait no longer, ggma who was walking behind to lessen the load slipped off behind a bush and gave birth (it was twins), in a short time as she regained her strength she cleaned up, wrapped the children in her petticoats and ran to catch up with the wagons. ---------- ;-) Just kidding, Thank you all for your tips and comments, I will follow-up on them all. Tom Cassidy ps She left some family behind so I would find her lovely gggrandaughter. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol and Joe Marlo" <carolandjoemarlo@yahoo.com> To: <fermanagh-gold@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2012 10:08 AM Subject: Re: FERMANAGH-GOLD A Cassiday/Cassidy Puzzle This might depend upon something as apparently unrelated as wedding conditions. I personally knew a couple (now dead) who were married on Thanksgiving Day (always the fourth Thursday in November). There was a blizzard on Wednesday, so the bride and groom, both of whom lived very near the church, slogged through the snowdrifts and were married by the priest with the house-keeper and the sexton as witnesses. No one from either family was able to get to the church.
