Also check the Donaghmoyne records for the godparents of the children of Hugh and Lucy. Quite likely the Griffith's Hugh is yours, as not a common name. 2. Patsy
    3. Hi Listers I am looking for information on the families of Hugh SHERRY and Lucy McARDLE who married in Castleblaney Muckno Co Monahaghn Ireland in 1848. Their daughter Sarah SHERRY came to New Zealand as a single girl in 1879 where she married and raised a family. On the Church marriage record online there is no mention of the parents of Hugh OR Lucy and I was wondering where I might find that information. According to the Church record Hugh was from Donaghmoyne and Lucy from Muckno. The Griffith Valuation shows a Hugh Sherry in Drumganus Lower and Kilmurray and I wonder if this is him? The Griffiths also shows an Edward, Patrick, and James McArdle at Castleblaney. thanks Patsy

    3. Hi Don, I have a John Holmes WHITSITT in my tree who was born in Co. Monaghan circa 1858. He was married to Jane Graham. While I don't have any more information on the WHITSITTs I can tell you something about Jane Graham's family. I also have their childrens' names. The spelling of the surname is slightly different - WHITSITT not WHITTSIT. Regards Judith

    2. The Griffith's index on failteromhat.com shows several Whitsitts (note different spelling) in Clones parish, Co. Fermanagh. The 1911 Irish census shows 42 Whitsitts, mostly in Fermanagh and Monaghan. You might try tracing those from the Clones area, perhaps see if there are any in the Irish phone directory on eircom.ie. 2. There were 2 Presbyterian congregations in Drum, part of Currin civil parish. Try Googling and you may get an address to write for a lookup for the marriage of John and Elizabeth or John's christening. 1. Re: [IRL-MONAGHAN] <no subject>
    2. You're unlikely to find church records going back to the baptisms or marriage of John and Margaret, but the Griffith's index on failteromhat.com may give a clue to where they came from, as Griffith's was done shortly after they emigrated and likely shows some of their relatives. There are lots of Corrigans scattered throughout Monaghan, no Crossins, but one Crossan in Magheross civil parish, which also has two Corrigans. This suggests that your ancestors came from south Monaghan. Next time you post, be sure to put their names in the subject line so if some distant relative searches the archives in a few years, he or she will spot your post. 2. Hello Roisin, Do you have any Duffy or Traynors on your list? Thanks for the kind offer Mel In a message dated 12/08/2012 21:31:37 GMT Daylight Time, laffertyd@eircom.net writes: I would be very grateful if anyone has any idea of where the original Muckno RC parish register might be? I have spent many hours scrutinising the fimed copy trying to link some of my mcArdle ancestors who were numerous in the Annagleve area of County Monaghan. Early entries are very faint and in many cases blurred... I was wondering if any researcher has ever seen the actual register...it now seems to be missing? Many of my relatives gave their children the same names, Philip, James and Patrick were common among the males and Brigid, Mary, Maggie, Catherine and Ellen for the girls... By the way I have listed a number of the McArdle Muckno baptisms so let me know if u want to check, maybe you might be in luck!
