Try Kenny's Bookstore online for Shirley's book. Keep in mind that Shirley's book is an ego trip and is not entirely truthful..... He had a very low opinion of the native irish. If your family is a "planted family" you might be able to gain some info to get you started jean

Need marriage of John BELL born in Ireland possible near Glaslough and Elizabeth DOBBIN, a French Huguenot orginalname was D'AUBIGNE. They were married before 1790, as they had a son William Bell born 04 May, 1790. There was also a daughter named Elizabeth who married a MOREDOCK. There may have been other children. Would appreciate any help and exchange information with any with an interest in this family. I found this note in a book ad would like to find a copy if possible, " Some notes as to members of the Bell family in Ireland, said to be descended from Adam Bell, a settler from the Borders about 1700, is given in a pamplet entitled "A Family Sketch," by Thomas William Bell, Deputy Registrar of the Land Registry in Ireland." I think these are my husband's family. ....the above Wiliam born 04 May 1790 Is his greatgrandfather. Grace Bell

Can anybody give me any details of the above? My g.g.g.grandfather was licensed to the church in 1798. I would love to find out where it is in Monaghan. He was from Co . Cavan (Bailieborough area), and I have wondered why he would go up there. His mother's family came from Co. Monaghan, so maybe it was because of that reason. Would he have stayed with that church for a time? I would be most grateful for any ideas or information offered. Thankyou so much. Regards. Lyn Hotchin Hotchin@bigpond.com
Someone sent me a private email last week about a Gillis family of CO. Monaghan. This week in doing some other research, I did find some information on this surname. If the party who was interested reads this, please email me and I will send the particulars. Joan

I am wondering what year this was done for Glasslough, Co. Monaghan? My g.g.g.grandfather , the Rev. James Gibson , wrote a letter to his grandaughter from Glasslough on the 26th August 1856. I am wondering if he is listed as being a resident here in the Griffith's Valuation? He refers to "being at home" , yet he died at Manooney, Tynan, Co. Armagh in 1866. I am grateful for any help given in relation to this.
I am searching for any information at all on the above family. I believe they are mentioned in the book "The History of Monaghan " by E.P. Shirley. Is this book still in print? I am most grateful for any information anyone may have on the above. Kindest regards. Lyn Hotchin >From outback Queensland, Australia. Hotchin@bigpond.com

Hi Peggy: I suggest you take a look at the CANADA ORANGE HERITAGE SITE at: http://members.tripod.com/~firstlight_2/CDN.ORANGE.htm and some it's links. You will find lots of information there. There is also Orangenet at: http://www.orangenet.org/ with historical, genealogical and cultural information about Orangeism around the world. As well there is a Mailing List hosted through Rootsweb called the Canada Orange Mailing List open to members of the public and members of the Orange Order. It's purpose is to discuss and exchange historical, genealogical and cultural information about the members of the Orange association that came to Canada and their descendants. Politics is banned from the List. It has about 150 members primarily from Canada and the USA whose ancestors were Orangemen or Orange women. To subscribe send the message "subscribe" to: Can-Orange-L-request@rootsweb.com Good luck. Brian >I am researching my Williamson family history in County Monaghan Ireland. Regarding records CO. Monaghan, I did look up Records considered "index to deeds, CO Monaghan.' pre 1810, and in my search I covered many rolls of film, those that I found information relating to the surname I was researching,' Cranston,' I did note the roll numbers and etc. Many were very hard to read. I was told that sometimes that was the only records for that period of time, because of the fire in 1922. Please contact me if this of interest to you. Rose C Dcran41266@aol.com
