    3. I only have two Parishes on the Monaghan Spinning Wheel List - Currin and Ematris. If you know for certain that your people lived in those Parishes, I'll do a search. These lists are not alphabetical, and so it takes a while. 3. I checked my copy of the "Spinning Wheel List of 1796" for Currin Parish and see the following listing: Gorman, John - 1 spinning wheel Since his is the only entry with that surname, the chances are reasonable good that he was the father of your James Gorman. You didn't mention a placename [townland or parish] nor did you mention a religion. If you know either of these, I might be able to advise you further. By the way, the mention of "1 spinning wheel" means that John Gorman devoted one rood of good quality farm land to the growing of flax and the spinning wheel was awarded to him "To encourage the growth of Flax throughout the Kingdom." 3. Patricia: I wonder if your DOHERTY's are any connection to my ancestors? My Great, Great Grandmother was Margaret Jane Doherty (d.Aug.10,1847) and she married (in Co.Monaghan, Ireland) Samuel Bullock (d.1853). I have their marriage certificate. Margaret Jane Doherty had a brother James Doherty who came to Canada from Ireland with her and her family about 1839. I believe they came to Cornwall, Ont. Can. and then onto Kingston, Ont., Canada where I live. I do not know the name of James' wife, but I do know the name of their children: Eliza (married Jim Goode); John; Jim (married Martha Major); and Elizabeth (m.John Raycraft). They stayed in the Kingston area as far as I know. I have the name of some of James grandchildren and great-grandchildren also. I would appreciate hearing from you if you think there is any connection Thank you, Brenda bullockb@post.queensu.ca At 10:00 AM 2000-04-16 -0400, you wrote: >I have a likely connection between a FAULKNER family in Co. 3. Interested in your roots from Castleblaney. I have a lead for the James Marshall I am looking for out of Ballybay (we always accepted town but could have been Parish) There are some Marshalls in the 1861 Census for Terrgreeghan which seems to have disappeared into Castleblaney over the years. Have you every done any reading on the area which might indicate the relationship to Terrgreeghan to Castleblaney? We have e some Faulkner families in our area which is East Central Ontario (Victoria County) any indication of a connection? -- We are trying to locate the Ancestors or siblings of James Marshall who was born in 1821 in Ballybay Co. Monaghan Ireland and who with his brother John came to Canada in or before 1845. James settled in Manvers Township (in then Durham County, Upper Canada ) now Victoria County, Ontario . They reportedly landed at Port Hope and came North. John stopped in the Bewdley area and was not heard of again. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. All the information that I have been able to capture is included on our site. www3.sympatico.ca/fmarshall

She is not on the net, so I will snailmail her and ask her if you have a connection. Regards, Therese in Queensland, Australia.
