I am now debugged, but if I emailed you while bugged, the worm attaches itself as a signature by way of MS Outlook Express. I apologize for the inconvenience. 3. Hi. I recommend you check the Tithe Applotment books for your ancestor. This was an assessment of land value done in the late 1820's in Co. Monaghan to determine the assessment for support of the Church of Ireland. His name is so unusual I am sure he will be the only one of that name in the county. You will find out not only townland, but there will be information on his holding which may be of interest to you. Films are available from the LDS. 2. Hello I am hoping SKS can provide some assistance - or if I'm really lucky, someone else is searching this line: I have just discovered that my ggg grandfather was a man by the name of Lancott WEIR. His son Robert (my gg grandfather), according to the 1901 Canadian census, was born March 17, 1832 and his obituary (1905) states he was born in County Monaghan. He came at the age of 6 with his family to Canada and settled in Cobourg Ontario. The family was Bible Christian and later Methodist. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I might determine the townland? Any other suggestions greatly appreciated. Patty

    3. Hi Nancy, The townland you are looking for is officially spelled: Gragarnagh. It is located in the Civil Parish of Aghnamullen, Barony of Cremorne, County Monaghan. The Poor Law Union was Castleblayney. Gragarnagh is a small townland consisting of 214 Acres, 3 roods and 21 perches. There are two listings for Catholic Churches in that area: 1. Catholic Church Castleblaney Co. Monaghan Ireland The East Parish Church address is: Parish Priest Aughnamullen East R. Catholic Church Shantonagh Castleblayney Co. Monaghan Ireland Hope this helps you in your search. 3. Hi Anita, You can find the "Flax List" [without Parish names] by getting on to: Ancestry.com and checking out their free searches. There are many Church of Ireland records microfilmed by LDS, but I don't think that Ematris Parish is one of them. You can write to the Church of Ireland minister for Ematris Parish and request information on your family, or you can purchase the microfilm for that church from PRONI. Are C of I records available outside Ireland, or would I need to hire a researcher? Anita Swann ==== IRL-MONAGHAN Mailing List ==== © MM
