    3. Hi everyone, I'm writing from New Brunswick, Canada. I'm looking for ancestry for William SCOTT and Ann SAYMORE (SEYMOUR?). William SCOTT was born in Erigle, County Monaghan, on May 12, 1798. (d. Dec. 15, 1873) Ann SAYMORE was born in Donah, County Monaghan, on March 6, 1798. They were married on April 3, 1821 in Ireland. They had 7 children: Jennie, Ann, Meriah, William and Margaret were born in Ireland. Alexander and James were born in St. Martins, New Brunswick, Canada. William and Ann emigrated to N.B. abt. 1832. They were buried in Londonderry, N.B. Thanks, William Jones

    3. About my greatgreat grandfather a family bible says - "George Hyland born Ireland County Monahan in the year of our Lord 1799 August the 21st" George was a stone mason, and was in Canada by 15 September 1828 when he married Mary Ann Wilson at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Kingston, Ontario. At that time he lived in Pittsburgh Township, Frontenac County, Ontario. It is assumed that George came to work at his trade on the building of the Rideau Canal, or on Fort Henry at Kingston. He built a stone cottage in Pittsburgh, but by the 1840's he was farming in Camden East Township, Lennox and Addington. He died there 13 July 1870 and is buried in the cemetery less than a mile from his farm. There is no indication of parents' or siblings names, and although there were some other people with this surname in the area of Kingston, and in Lennox and Addington County, we have been unable to establish any relationship with them. The names of George and Mary Ann's children were Ann Jane, George, Mary, Wilson. Ann Jane married a man named William Hyland (whose family came to Canada in the early 1830's) but descendants maintain that they were not related. The IGI shows a George Hyland baptized 16 March 1800, son of William Hyland and Susanna Halliday, but in Kilcoo, County Down. The other ten children of this couple, whose baptisms also appear in the IGI, do not appear to match with any other known Hyland in the area at the time. Any help would be much appreciated. 3. From my source book, the earliest RC records in Aghnamullen Parish East start in July 1857. The ones for Aghnamullen West start in February 1841. You might want to consider looking in a nearby Parish. 2. Ralph W. Wyndrum Jr.
    3. Folks, Over the years we have done considerable research on this family, and a greatly enhanced family history and tree will be available on the Wyndrum.com website in late August or early September. It will trace the family back to John Winram, one of the three founders of the Presbyterain Church in Scotland in the early 16th Century. However, there are many frustrating gaps, and we are trying to fill these. Any help you all can provide will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged. The family moved from Scotland (Fife, Lanark, etc) to Monaghan (a family home in Castleblaney now) as well as Belfast, Antrim and Armagh, and from there to Fenelon Falls, Ontario; Shokan, NY; Vancouver, BC; South Africa, and even Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Ralph Wyndrum 35 Cooney Terrace Fair Haven NJ 07704 732-219-0005

    3. Hi all, I am new to this particular list so I thought I would introduce myself. I am trying to track down the descendents of a Thomas Wiley born in Monaghan in the 1840s to a Hugh Wiley and unknown female. Thomas came out to Australia (Western Australia to be precise) in the 1860s. Two sisters also came out. They were called Eliza and Margaret. All I know for certain is that Hugh Wiley was a land owner as sometime in the 1960s Irish authorities contacted Western Australian authorities to say that some 'entailed land' (whatever that means) had been left to a descendent in West Australia. The descendant turned down the land and so it went back to Ireland (so to speak). I am trying to locate anything about this Thomas Wiley (usual stuff like parents, family in Ireland and so on) or anything about the entailed land. Does anyone know anything about this guy, or how I might find out about the entailed land? Regards to all Tony

    3. Tony Don't know anything about the Wileys, but a 'fee tail' or an 'entailed interest' is an estate in land which endures as long as the original grantee ('tenant in tail') or any of his/her lineal descendants is alive - the entail was a type of landholding designed to retain land within the family. Hope this is of some help.
