    3. Wendy, The surname Ranson turns up in the second volumeof the 'Registry of Deeds, Dublin, Abstracts of Wills. 1746-85.' Edited by P. Beryl Eustace. Published by the Irish Manuscripts Commission in 1954. There is a deed or will belonging to a William Ranson and then there is another deed or will in which people by the surname Ranson are mentioned. The names being, Benjamin, John and Mary. I only have an index to this volume and so can't tell you anything about the dates or where these people were from. The name does not turn up in either of the other two volumes of this work. I can check it out for you, but it would be a good few weeks before I can do this. It's definitely not a common spelling. 1. Rollcall - McManon & Smith
    2. Hello, RE: Rollcall I am searching for any information on the ancestors of my gg grandparents, Mary McMahon (b.1838 County Monaghan) & Thomas Smith (b.1824 County Monaghan). Thomas emigrated to the U.S. sometime between 1849-1851 and entered by way of New York and then came across the country with General Fremont and settled in Chinese Camp (gold mining camp) in California. At the age of 13 (1851) Mary came by freighter around Cape Horn to San Francisco. She was sponsored by a family by the name of Riordan and lived with them a year or so and then made her way to Chinese Camp where she met Thomas. They married and settled in Stanislaus County and had 10 children. Thomas was a sheep and cattle rancher so I am woundering if that was his occupation in County Monaghan Ireland? The parents name listed on Mary's death certificate are Michael McMahon and Judith Griffin McMahon. I know she had at least 1 brother named James McMahon and that he also emigrated to the U.S. and joined his sister. I also know that The McMahon family was Roman Catholic. I know nothing of the Smith family but would very much like to know more. Any information would be very much appreciated! Best Regards, Elizabeth Pleasanton, California E-Mail: Lizxyz@aol.com

    3. Researching Francis MCMAHON and Anne DUFFY born and resided in County Monaghan. May have lived in Gragernagh or Ballybay area. Immigrated to Lowell, Massachusetts (exact year unknown-between 1880 and 1888 and then returned to Ireland within the year). Both died in Ireland (Francis died after January 1, 1890; am assuming Anne died before Francis). They had three children: Patrick, Mary Ann and Ellen ("Nellie"). Thanks. Nancy

Monaghan, Ireland between 1790 and 1800. They are all buried in a Wesleyen Methodist cemetery in Village of Pickering, Ontario, Canada, so I assume that was their religion. Their names and approx. birthdates are as follows: Joseph Gormley Born 1798 in Ireland Died April 28, 1876 John Gormly Born 1795 in Ireland Died Oct. 19, 1852 James Gormley Born 1790 in Ireland Died Feb. 8, 1875.
