Thought I would pass this information along in case you come across anything that would connect him to your Callahan research. Timothy Shanley b. 1846-1847 Rathmolyon, County Meath, Ireland m. Mary Ann Callahan d. 25 Oct 1880 (age 33 yrs) [Timothy's wife Mary is shown as a "widow" on her death certificate.] bur: 25 Oct 1880 Calvary Cemetery in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota (grave unmarked) Cause of death: Consumption Residence: Webster, Massachusetts Timothy probably arrived in New York, NY on 8 Jul 1852 at the age of 5 years along with his father James Shanley, his mother Rosa ("Rose") and the rest of his family. 1860 Census: "Age 11; Born: Ireland; Town: Dudley, Massachusetts [page 547, dwelling 590, family 812 - roll 534]" 1870 Census: "Age 25; Works in shoe factory; Born: Ireland; Town: Webster, Massachusetts [page 59, line 18]" Mary Ann (Callahan) Shanley b. 17 Aug 1848 Connecticut, USA [from birth certificate of son, John Henry Shanley] or Massachusetts, USA [from Certificate of Death for "Mrs. Mary Timothy Shanley"] d. 30 Apr 1914 (age 65 yrs, 8 mos, 13da.) St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota Mary had been living with her son John Henry in Minnesota for 6 yrs. and 6 mos. prior to her own death in 1914. bur. 2 May 1914 Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota Funeral: E. C. Schnider Cause of Death: Nephritis, Senility, Chronic Myreaschitis[?] - hospitalized 6 mos. 7da. (26 Oct 1913 to 30 Apr 1914) Occupation: housekeeper Parents: John Callahan (b. Ireland) & Mary Sanga (b. Canada) 1870 Census: "Age 20; Keeping house; Born: Massachusetts (Contradicts son's birth certificate but agrees with Mary's death certificate however would tend to lend more weight to the birth certificate since she would have been more involved in supplying that information than census information or, obviously, information supplied by others after her own death.     3. Have you checked the 1880 Census for his wife. It is available on line at lds.org and might give you some further clues. The 1880 census listed the birthplace of the parents in most cases. I found that my 2nd great grandmother's father was born in Germany, something I did not know before (Not my Irish ancestors).. Hope this is of some help to you.
