Christmas Greetings everyone, My interest is in my ggg grandparents Patrick and Bridget MARKEY and their families. Patrick was born c1815 and married Bridget (nee KENNEDY) born c1819 around c1840. Their children were Barnard Brian (Bernard?) born c1841; Mary born c1844; Catherine Mary born c1850. I have idea in Meath where they may have come from so have hit a brickwall. NOTES: They all left for Tasmania (Van Diemens Land) aboard the ship "Panama" in 1853 from port of Liverpool to Hobart Town, Tasmania as "Assisted Immigrants 1841 - 1889". Their children were Barnard (Bernard?) born c1841; Mary born c1844 & Catherine born c1850 (this is my gg grandmother whose family later immigrated to New Zealand and I have all that line. Mary...I cannot find - she may have died soon after they arrived here? or moved onto marry elsewhere? They all settled and lived in the New Norfolk/Hamilton/Fenton Forest areas in Tasmania. (A few Markeys also went onto New Zealand). Alot of Markeys settled in Tasmania as immigrants during the famine and I have been told they could have all been related. There also is a tie somehow to "Castle Malahide" in Dublin. Barnard's children were as follows (out of interest for family naming patterns):- 1 Barnard Brian Markey 1841 - . +Charlotte Ransley 1846 - ........ 2 Bernard Markey 1868 - ........ 2 Catherine Markey 1869 - ........ 2 Charlotte Florence?
