    3. I just stumbled into this site- titled Uniting the Kingdoms- with some bits of Irish history, etc. I haven't looked through it to any degree but this came from their "About" page "The exhibition looks at some key themes in the history of the Middle Ages. It is an introduction for readers new to the subject and a reference tool for those studying the period. It also provides images of over seventy key documents. 3. An impassioned plea to the listowner: Please adjust your settings so that replies can be easily sent to either the sender or the list as required. As a listowner myself I know this can be done very simply. The reason? Because like many other listers my emails go into mailboxes that detect subjects. My original posting's subject was "MELVIN of Thomastown and Baltrasna" and that was what it was about. I would expect reply postings using this heading as the subject to contain some relevant information of interest to me. Some of the replies under this subject heading were simply things like "Thanks, Carol" and "Thanx, Paul" which were in appreciation for things that had taken place also using my subject heading that were of no interest or relevance to me at all! You can see examples listed below, and I'm sure you'll see what I mean. All these had to be deleted from my 'MELVIN' folder. This has been the case in a number of instances because off topic correspondence has been generated (and there's nothing wrong with that) but it was personal to the people concerned, some of it was critical, and should not have found its way to the list. I have clicked on 'Reply Sender' and have been surprised to see my personal (thankfully friendly) reply on the list as if I had clicked on 'Reply All'. Naturally, if there is information to impart that WOULD be of interest to everybody, then 'Reply All' is the appropriate path to follow. But please give us that choice. Similarly, my offer to supply "Pictures of Oldcastle" generated a gratifying reponse, but replies to this offer should have come to me personally, not to the list. Please make this adjustment so that the list is an exchange of information, not the 'chatroom' it has unfortunately become. Thanks, Bryan Morgan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul E. 3. Thanks for the kind comments made by all those of you who wanted copies of my photos of Oldcastle - what a surprisingly large response! The offer still stands if you haven't seen them - just email me off the list and I'll send you the set. I just thought I'd take this opportunity to pass on what I recently found out. It's simply that the odd-looking pale blue painted turreted building that takes up much of the centre of the town and is now the "ARRO" supermarket, was once the local dance hall and general meeting place. This is probably of no general interest but I just thought somebody might like to know as baptisms and weddings were once celebrated there! Bye Bry
