    3. Kathleen, FYI, I saw some Gilesenans in the old cemetery right behind the 'Church of Ireland' church in the center of Athboy, County Meath, when I was there in May hunting my own ancestors/cousins. Maybe some of them are yours. (I noticed the name because it bore some linguistic similarity to the older 'Hesnan' variant of my patrilineal surname, whose origins are still subject to wild speculation.) ----------------- Annamarie Hessman [email protected] > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2003 9:20 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [MEATH] Gilson/Gilsenans surname in Navan > > > Would it be possible to check and see if you have any > Gilsons/Gilsenans ? 1. [MEATH] Gossin, Hart (or Harte)
    2. N A Gray
    3. If anyone comes across members of these families--especially if married to one another--I would appreciate any information you can provide. Some of the Gossins at least came from Stamullin and possibly from Kilmoon Parish. They were Catholic. Seven Gossins emigrated together in the 1820's and probably landed first in Canada and then just walked across the border. Five of them appear on the 1830 census in Utica, where they are reputed to have worked on the Erie Canal. My great-great-grandfather, Patrick Gossin, married Catherine Hart, whether in Ireland or in New York I do not know. Thanks. Nancy Gray

    3. I have 27 surnames for the lookups. That is all I can handle! I made a list of the surnames so that anyone on the list who wants to use it as a surname list can do so. It is here: http://members.gtw.net/~seamus/Navansurnamelist.htm I plan to take the list with me and if I see any of the surnames, I will make notes so that a researcher can request a copy from LDS. 3. Thanks Elayne, I already have a lot of U.S. information, including most of the references you listed , and I know she was married in 1852 to Arthur James Grover in London, England. I have a copy of a baptismal certificate with the name "Anne Coyle" listing her parents as Bridget McCabe and Thomas Coyle. It gives her birthdate as 1832, but the obituary I have gives a birthdate of 1834. In all probability this is the correct person, but I am trying for more verification. What I am looking for is information relating to her (and my) ancestors in County Meath specifically and in Ireland generally. > -----Original Message----- > From: Charles & Elayne Roberts [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Monday, June 30, 2003 9:45 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [MEATH] Coyle > > > Mark, you might try working from the most recent event in her > life and working back.
