Look in the Irish/Mayo online telephone directory for names and addresses. www.familysearch.org (use Mayo for place) There are a lot of Patrick Griffin's born in Mayo including this one: Example only: Patrick born 20 March 1878, Gorteenmore fa: Peter and mother Ann Jeffers LDS Film No. C00578-7/256005 You can get copies of records after 1864 from the General Registration Office: www.groireland.ie There are at least three that might fit the criteria if he died in Mayo. Estimated year of birth is based on age given at death, not a birth date. Years of death 1943, 1950, 1950. There are many who went to the USA and appear in several census. I would think despite these records it would be possible to get the right person you maybe able to narrow it down a bit. That is why I suggest the phone book as there may be descendants who know if he stayed in Mayo or went to the US. That at least would give you a starting point. Looked in a 1931 Commercial Directory for Mayo, if he had a business he may have been listed. There is just a Michael Griffin.
