This new tool of Genetic Genealogy, is not a replacement for old fashioned research of paper records. But, How many times have we hit a brick wall or fork in the road with multiple choices? To have rock solid evidence saying, "Here", not there, then aligning the paper with the facts. You mention the name Burn, Burne, Byrne. There is an excellent example. Wouldn't it be nice to know if they are linked to the Northwest Irish group, southern Irish group, Atlantic Modal? etc. Same for the Hopkins(English, Scot, Welsh, German, Norman or Irish?). In the last 3-5 years discoveries have spead up at an amazing pace. Charts/graphs can't keep up with all the discoveries. This has fueled new reseach of the paper records. They go hand in hand. Old theories and common myths are being destroyed and new ones, along with books, are being formulated. Thanks for responding, Tina. This is a very exciting time to be doing research on the families.
