Hi Marianne, > I am also looking for Gibbons family. Mary (Harrison) Solan married in Mayo Abbey in 1859; her mother was Mary Gibbons. > I believe that it is a common name in the area. This is a longshot, but do you have more information on the Gibbons? I am trying to find more information on my 3rd great grandmother, Margaret Gibbon born in about 1822, parents were Thomas Gibbons and Jennie Connolly. I know that Margaret Gibbons married John McNally, probably around 1845 and had two children: Bridget (b. 1846) and Mary Jane (b. 1850) (which makes me think her mother was actualy Mary Jane Connolly) before emigrated to Pennsylvania in about 1851. They settled in Scranton, which had a lot of Mayo and Galway Irish at that time. Any help would be appreciated. Gibbons and McNally are fairly common, so it is tough getting a lead on them. John
I have Irish Gibbons in Pennsylvania--Spring City and East Vincent--on my tree. Austin and Bridget. Any relation?
