I say this because I know its a popular name there. I have 4 Doherty families in my family including my great grandmother Susan "White"Doherty O'Donnell. Most of mine came to the Boston area as well, one went to Missouri, and a few to Calif. Maybe for what its worth try Co Cork too I have a Neil Doherty dob 1838, and his wife Mary Coats 1838, who came to Boston prior to 1878, as they both died here that year.
