However, Spencer's wife was reportedly Irish Canadian, so perhaps that's how Irish culture crept into the family. Or perhaps some of their grandparents came from Ireland. Spencer was born about 1880 and Milton about 1885, their parents presumably in the 1850s. It's possible the grandparents emigrated from Ireland in the late 1840s, during the potato famine. I'd suggest you look for Kenwards in old NY censuses in the 1800s, try to find the boys with their parents, then go back further and look for the parents with their grandparents.
