She told her children & grandchildren she was originally from Co. Mayo, and censuses list her date of arrival in the U.S. as 1870. She married Martin Melican (Millican, Milligan), also listing his date of arrival as 1870 and his country of origin on censuses as Ireland, but the family was told he was Scottish. From the death certificates of these two individuals, I learned that Mary's parents were Patrick Cleary and Bridget Flanery, and Martin's parents were Martin Melican and Kate Hapnick. Mary and Martin married in Chicago in 1874 and lived the rest of their lives there. i need help in tracing them to Ireland, as I have found several individuals with those names and cannot know which are my ancestors.
