Assume it would be one of her sons. O'MALLEY/O'MALIA etc. is a common Mayo name. Getting accurate information pre 1864 is difficult. Her father and this particular O'MALLEY clan based out of Clare Island. He too was a pirate. There are some ruins of their castle still there. However on Achill Island and not to far away are 2 of her Keeps. Rockfleet still has floors in. It is usually locked and on CURLET land. Anne CHAMBERS (no relation) book is an excellent resource for people interested in this particular O'MALLEY family line. It contains copies of numerous documents. In 17/18th century her granddaughter or g granddaughter married into the BROWNE family of Westport House. Name changes/spelling happens often because of changing from the Irish to English and vice versa, the brogue and lack of education. Grace and her immediate progeny remained in Ireland. After her visit with Elizabeth I, she got back from BINGHAM all he confiscated. However, I'm sure that many with the O'MALLEY & variations of the surname participated in many of the rebellions pre 1922 and had to leave Ireland. 1. [IRL-MAYO] Canadian response to MCFADDEN/O'MALLEY

    3. Hello Mayo researchers! I noted the McFadden name connected to the O'Malley in your surname list.... I went back to look at my database to doublecheck. My Peter O"Melia/O'Malley was born about 1774 in County Mayo. He listed himself as a weaver on the 1851 census of Grey County, Ontario, Canada. He was married to a Bridget (maiden name unknown)who was a quarter century younger than he is (so likely 2nd wife)! She states on 1861 census she was married in 1826. Peter's son appears to be a Thomas O'Maly born about 1810 (by first wife no doubt) and he is married to a Bridget also, with surname McFadden. It is her death record in 1894 which is hard to read, but the birthplace appears to say Slievmore. If anyone else researching these names I'd be glad to get any more historical information about the McFadden/O'Malley names on Achill Island, as this is where I believe these folks came from originally. The younger daughter who lived through the 1901 census stated she immigrated to Canada in 1842. If these people were born in Slievemore, where do I find the Roman Catholic records for this time? period (1700's to 1842)?
