I, too, had already found the very same 1857 Griffith's record Fran was referring to, which may have an ancestor of my husband's listed.(However, I can't prove it yet until I find the name of my husband's gg grandfather). My husband's great grandfather is John Canavan, who was 14 in 1857. If his father's name is also John, then this is most likely the family (the location is spot on). Fran, in her message, does not mention her ancestor's name (wouldn't it be ironic if it was the same as ours?). I thought it was interesting Fran was researching the landowner, as was I. The reason I'm interested in finding Jane Louisa O'Donnell is because of her last name. Great grandfather John Canavan's eldest daughter (who emigrated to the US) married an American-born O'Donnell. I was curious about there possibly being a connection. If indeed the Canavan listed as a tenant on the O'Donnell land is our ancestor, and the O'Donnell's had family in America, then there might be a very interesting story to be had. I already had Googled Jane~~that's how I found Fran's message in the first place. So far, I've found no other reference to Jane. First things first though: I need to discover John's father's name. Then, if Fran sees this, perhaps she's discovered more about Jane. I appreciate you're writing to help. I looked at your other messages and see you are quite an expert in Irish research, very impressive! I've already found some tips. If I have questions in the future, may I write to you here on Ancestry? Anne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
