Barnastang Upper was gone in the Griffith valuation and it would corrspond with the present townland of Cashel. Bryan Mchugh was not in the Griffith valuatiuon he may have died or been evicted there is a record of his head tenant been evicted. Bryan's two sons Patrick the eldest and Edward according to local lore emigrated ihn 1849. There is a comment in the 1880's that they may be in Pennyslvania or Canada. It is believed James McHugh of Kilhale a townland close by was his brother. James son Bryan was evicted in 1849 but appeared in the Griffith valuation about 1860.
