Thady is not a common Mulherin name from my research. The following I found at ancestry which might lead you in some direction. Mulherin Thadeus & Owen KathyDuncombe41 (View posts) Posted: 18 Sep 2001 4:50AM GMT Classification: Query Edited: 20 May 2002 5:03AM GMT Looking for any information on brothers Thady [Thadeus] later known as Edmund/Edward, and Owen, later known as John Mulherin/Mulearan/Mulhern etc. who were transported to NSW Australia in 1823. Thadeus would have been born c1801. Do you have these names in your family? Any information would be appreciated. According to a press report in The Freeman's Journal of 4 April 1822, p.3, Owen & Thady MULHEERAN were sentenced at County Sligo Assises. Unfortunately the original court records no longer exist and I have been unable to trace any information in Ireland about father's name and any siblings, or their parish, etc. In the Australian convict records, their place of origin is given as County Mayo. This suggests that they were living in a parish where these two counties meet. Try Killala Bay, Ballina area? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
