I was named after him as he was my paternal grandmother's favorite uncle. She was Margaret Mary Coyle whose mother was a Lavelle, born in Holyoke Mass USA in 1911 but raised by her parents in Belmullet until she returned to Holyoke in 1926 where she lived with another one of Michael's sisters, Rose Lavelle Kennedy. Your grandfather was a marvelous man. As you probably know, he had been an IRA Commander during the Anglo-Irish War and spent his working life as a carpenter/furniture maker. Aside from Coyle and Lavelle, I am familiar, sort of, with some Cawleys and Walkers. While I think most were from Mayo, I think there were connections to Sligo as well. John Coyle was also an IRA man, a shoemaker, a drummer and when I met him, quiet. Annie was troubled. They had four children, one son and three daughters. I think that one daughter's children may still live on American Street in Belmullet. If you send a letter to Marlene Gannon, you might get an answer. She was an educator and retired years ago.
