Thanks Sam. And thanks for the photo. Someday I'll make it over the pond from New Jersey and tromp around the lands where my KEARNS ancestors lived (with the current landowner's permission of course!). It certainly clears up a bit of the mystery of why Ruane appeared on the 1870-1880s birth certificates of at least 3 KEARNS relatives who were born and lived in the area. I wonder how the name usually seen as a surname came to be associated with the place? Maybe a RUANE was once a landowner there? Do you know of any KEARNS still in the area? My next geography question would be if you've heard of Lakehill (might not be the proper spelling), supposedly around the Knock area too.
