They're in date order. LDS also has copies of many of the actual detailed birth records for the cert numbers included in the indexes. The birth records include the mother's maiden name too. Have you gotten your father's civil birth cert? Since you have his birth date, birthplace and parents names you can order it from the General Register Office http://www.groireland.ie That should confirm his mother's maiden name. There was a very high mortality rate for infants in those times and it's possible there were earlier children who might have died. As I mentioned the Irish civil registration marriage records indexes microfilms are also available on order through your nearest LDS Family History Centre in date order. If you find the marriage entry in the indexes, you can copy the information from the index and use it to request the actual marriage record from the General Register Office http://www.groireland.ie The 1901 online Mayo census doesn't contain complete information that's in the microfilm census records. You can order the census microfilm records through your nearest LDS Family History Centre to view the additional detail in the census records for Kilgellia, Attymass. The 1911 Irish census has also been relased and you can likewise order that through your nearest LDS Family History Centre.
