    3. Hi, Máiread ! Just to confirm that I did receive your long (and very interesting, but sad !) post ! You said that you sent it "yesterday" - it arrived in my 'Inbox' at 00.33 British Summer Time today - but of course that may be due to differences between British and U.S. time. It was very frightening to read (even though I have read several books on the subject, including Cecil Woodham-Smith's "The Great Hunger") - and also makes me think that my Roscommon grandmother's ancestors and my wife's Galway and Mayo ancestors must have been both very tough and very lucky to survive !
