    3. According to the 1891 Mansfield census, William WARD was born in Westport St. Mary in about 1838, and from other records his parents were John and Mary (or Maria, formerly MCLEON), while his sisters Sarah and Bridget were born about 1841 and 1842, respectively. John WARD was born about 1802, and Mary/Maria about 1813, so their marriage would probably have taken place in the late 1830s. They emigrated to England about 1851. On the excellent "Irish Roots" website compiled by Pat Deese I can't see any Westport St.Mary's birth records going back to that period, neither can I see any Westport St.Mary's marriage records for the 1830s. Is that because the records haven't yet been transcribed and added to the website, or is it simply that such records don't exist? I'd like to know whether it's worth writing to the parish with a payment for a search of the records. Barry Johnson Monmouthshire http://www.milfordtrawlers.org.uk/

    3. Hi Barry, St. Mary's records go back far enough to include your ancestors marriage information but not baptism information. Here's the link to the parish records dates, St. Mary's is part of the Aughaval parish records: http://www.ireland.com/ancestor/fuses/rcparishmaps/index.cfm?fuseaction=showidrecords&CityCounty=Mayo&parish=Aughaval&churchid=1043 The parish records are available on microfilm through LDS, the LDS microfilm number is included in that link.
