He wasn't a sponsor for the baptisms of any of your father's children there or a witness for his marriage? Pat may have emigrated through the Port of Boston. You may want to request a lookup on the Suffolk County MA message board for the passenger records in Boston. I think they're available online to members of the New England Genealogical Society.
