He doesn't say but I assume that before the time when my family's townland Streamstown was still known as by that name. Now the family considers it Belclare. Belclare on this map Section 31 is the next townland over on the ocean. You know, I never asked when the change came about. It does list old townlands down the road now R 335 i.e. Knockfin and Clerhaun. This is where my ROONEY ancestors lived. I will send an "E" mail to the Cleveland Irish list and ask. Belclare and Streamstown townlands were there in 1851 and are included in the Ireland Townland Database http://www.seanruad.com They're also included in the 1901 census because people are listed in both townlands in the census records. There are still postal addys that include both townlands. So the date his maps are from make a difference as well as his source, where he got them. Map details depended on when the maps were done, the early Ordnance Survey maps from the early 1800s weren't complete or accurate. He's also got a link to the 1900 census maps that doesn't open. Are those supposed to be Cleveland census maps for 1900? There wasn't an Irish census in 1900. --- Mary Ellen Chambers <maryln61@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > He doesn't say but I assume that before the time > when my family's townland Streamstown was still > known as by that name.
