Ny husband and I will be visiting Swinford, Mayo for the first time, a week on Tuesday, for a week. According to the 1871 Census in Garstang, Lancashire, this is where my great great grandfather John Duddy was born about 1830. He married Catherine Gorman at Meelick and Kilconduff church in 1856. I am not sure if Swinford comes under the North Mayo Heritage Centre or the South Mayo Heritage Centre. Swinford seems to be half way between both. Please can someone put me right. Also, can you just walk into a Heritage Centre and look at records, or do you have to make an appointment? Many thanks, Anne
