    1. [IRL-MAYO] John Glenn or Glynn Wilmington, Delaware - No "Defense of Irish Records"

    3. This message was posted on the list on August 4 and is clearly related to Irish records and your view of getting them Bill. Yet Mary Ellen Chambers didn't post any "defense" to this message on the list or any comment about her experiences getting Irish records to your message. One wonders then why not? Why pick PatWicklow's message about US church records for the defense and not this one which is clearly related not only to records in Ireland from as Mary Ellen Chambers mentions a "tourist" but also directly related to Irish church records? Oceanstrands From: waseely@aol.com Subject: Re: [IRL-MAYO] John Glenn or Glynn Wilmington, Delaware Date: Mon, 04 Aug 2008 08:29:30 -0400 References: <1217848535.309756@rootsweb.com> In-Reply-To: <1217848535.309756@rootsweb.com> Oceanstrands, Your message relative to one's ability to acquire data on ancestors is both "good" and "bad". ....it is up to the church torespond, regardless of the " toll paid " to glean the information desired. Take it from one who blew almost $ 100.00 in two (2) mailings to " the pastor of the church". Decided to visit Ireland and went to the church twice, old pastor there the first visit (could see the steak and wine) - too busy to help all week; then visited the same church the next year, new pastor - reviewed records dating from around 1825 up and found the McShane family instantly. Reading your message would indicate to myself, that there is "no sense " looking, when " money is the key to ones roots ".Just a comment meaning: ".... no offense to anyone other than be prepared to "pay" for any information ".
