Hello Carole, Was Mary Ellen Conroy born in County Mayo? The reason I asked where Mary Ellen Conroy was married was because there may be other records search options you can do to identify where she may have been born in County Mayo. In addition to where she was married, did she emigrate and when? Did her parents emigrate? If so, when? Because civil registration of births didn't start in Ireland until 1864, and there are no surviving census records before 1901, church parish records for her birthplace in County Mayo would be the possible source for a baptismal record for her IF they survive back to her birth year. The majority of Roman Catholic parish records in County Mayo don't survive back that far for all parishes. If she was born in one of the parishes where records don't survive back to her birth year there won't be a baptismal record for her in County Mayo. There's a list of the names of all the towns and townlands in County Mayo at the Ireland Townland Database http://www.seanruad.com and pick Mayo as your search county. Here's the link to the Roman Catholic parish maps in County Mayo, click on each parish on the maps to identify what years are covered in the records and where they can be accessed: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/mayorc.htm Oceanstrands --- On Wed, 8/6/08, Carole Livingston <reedsqiliv@sbcglobal.net> wrote: > From: Carole Livingston <reedsqiliv@sbcglobal.net> > Subject: [IRL-MAYO] 1836 birth > To: IRL-MAYO-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 4:53 AM > I am trying to locate a birth record for my great > grandmother Mary Ellen Conroy daughter of Michael and Ellen > (Roach) Conroy.
